The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on Wednesday arrested a man for transporting huge cache of arms and ammunition to the provincial capital. Superintendent of Police (SP) CIA Lahore Syed Nadeem Abbas said after receiving information from reliable sources that some people are planning to carry out terror activity by transporting huge cache of arms and ammunition to the city, they immediately constituted a special team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) CIA Lahore Anwar Saeed Kangara.

The DSP along with his team erected a police pocket near Bilal Travels, Band Road, and Nawakot police precinct. Meanwhile, the team intercepted a car bearing number LOM-5180 and arrested accused Aurangzeb Khan, son of Zameen Shah, resident of Kohat district, and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the CNG cylinder of the car and other secret pockets.

After hectic search, the DSP said they recovered 13 pistols of 30-bore, three semi-automatic repeaters, 1700 bullets of 44-bore, 500 bullets of 223-bore and 300 bullets of 30-bore. He added that most of the recovered ammunitions were hid in a CNG cylinder.

He said the accused during interrogation confessed to his crime and admitted that he used to sell arms and ammunition in different parts of Punjab. He said a criminal case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway to uncover other suspects behind this illegal business.
